Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Telehealth & Logistics
-
Telehealth works just like traditional in-person therapy, but from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
We will meet via video using SimplePractice, a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. A few minutes before our session, you’ll receive a unique, private link via email or text.
You just click the link to join the virtual waiting room—no software downloads or accounts should be required.
-
To get the most out of our sessions, you will need a reliable internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a working camera and microphone. I’d recommend using a computer for the best client experience; if beginning couples therapy, I strongly encourage the use of a single, shared computer.
Most importantly, you will need a private, quiet space where you feel safe enough speaking freely and won't be interrupted or distracted. Some clients find that using headphones adds another layer of privacy.
-
Due to state licensing laws, you must be physically located within the state of Arizona at the exact time of our session. If you are traveling out of state for work or vacation, we will need to pause or reschedule our virtual sessions until you return. However, if you live anywhere within Arizona, we can seamlessly work together.
-
Tech glitches happen from time to time, and we won't let them disrupt your care. If our video connection drops or freezes, I will wait briefly to see if it self-corrects.
If it doesn't, I will call the phone number on file for you so we can troubleshoot the connection.
Fees, Insurance, & Billing
-
Pain to Presence Psychotherapy LLC is a private pay practice, meaning the practice is not in network with any insurance carriers. You are welcome to request a superbill to submit yourself to your insurance plan for potential reimbursement. Determinations for reimbursement is up to the discretion of the insurer, not this therapist or practice.
For a detailed breakdown of how to verify your benefits, out-of-network options, and session rates, please visit the [Fees & Insurance Page].
-
Yes, you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card to pay for your sessions as long as there are enough funds to cover the session fee. Additionally, most major credit and debit cards are accepted.
Clinical Approach & Expectations
-
My practice focuses on both individual and couples therapy. One main focus is the intersections of mind, body, and relational challenges.
You can view my dedicated pages to explore [commonly- treated symptoms], Information for [Couples Therapy], those with [Chronic Pain], or [Trauma & PTSD]
-
I integrate deeply collaborative, evidence-based approaches tailored to your specific needs. My work is rooted in somatic (body-based) awareness, Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, and Brainspotting, among others.
Rather than just talking about your problems, we look at the root of what is maintaining or fueling symptoms.
You can read a full breakdown of how these approaches work on my [Our Approach Page].
-
The first session is a welcoming, collaborative conversation. We won't dive right into the deep end. Instead, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, review your history, explore possible goals, and to see if we’re a good fit.
Practice Policies
-
I reserve a specific, dedicated time slot just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I require at least 24-hours' notice. Sessions canceled with less than 24-hours' notice, or those missed altogether, are subject to the full session fee, including the first intake session.
You can find more details on my [practice policies page].
-
Individual and couples sessions are typically 50 minutes, though longer sessions may be available upon request - or if there is a specific therapeutic need for an extended session.
To build momentum and see meaningful progress, I generally recommend meeting weekly or bi-weekly on a recurring basis. We can shift the frequency at any time, though i cannot guarantee time slots will be available unless reserved.
-
Because my practice is entirely virtual, I do not provide crisis intervention services. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or a psychological crisis, please call or text 988 (the crisis lifeline). You can also go to your nearest emergency room.
