Fees & Payment

Sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis, depending on your needs, goals, and constraints impacting the average frequency. Sliding scale rates are available to those with greater financial need upon request.

Private Pay Session Rates for Individual and Couples Psychotherapy Services

  • 50-minute session: $185

  • 80-minute session: $277

Insurance Participation (Aetna Commercial or an Applicable Medical Rental Network)

Effective July 31, 2026, Pain to Presence Psychotherapy LLC is an in-network provider with Aetna Commercial plans and/or an applicable medical rental network. If you carry an eligible plan, we will handle billing directly, and you will only be responsible for your plan's copays, coinsurance, or deductible.

Out-of-Network Status

For all other commercial insurance carriers (e.g., Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare), we operate on an out-of-network basis. We can provide a monthly superbill upon request for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement, but reimbursement cannot be guaranteed. You will be notified if we become in-network with other insurers in the future.

Medicare & Medicare Advantage Policies

Michael Tugendhat, LCSW, and Pain to Presence Psychotherapy LLC are opted out of the Medicare program. We cannot accept, bill, or process claims for Medicare, Medicare Advantage, or any Medicare-affiliated/supplemental plans. Medicare-eligible clients must pay private rates and sign a private contract.

Additional Payment Information

Payment is due at the time of service by credit or debit card, and a default card on file is required for scheduling.

Cancellation Policy

Appointments canceled with less than 24-hour’s notice will be subject to the full session fee unless an emergency situation prevents you from providing the required 24-hour notice. Exception will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The full Cancellation Policy is viewable on the Policies Page.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of the expected cost of services under the No Surprises Act. An estimate will be provided after scheduling your intake appointment or upon request. The full GFE is available for viewing on the Policies Page.
