Treating Pain, Trauma, Anxiety & Relationships
A New Relationship to Pain
Internal Family Systems Therapy’s compassionate stance is that no human has ‘bad parts,’ just parts that haven’t been given the time, attention, and care they may need. You’ll learn to ‘go inside’ to bring your own Self-presence to the parts that have been waiting for you. We’ll nurture your presence, calm, and connectedness to help all of your internal parts who may have gotten lost somewhere along the way.
Healing for Mind & Body
Discover your nervous system, emotional, and stress-based patterns that affect your pain. We’ll lean on experiential and somatic approaches, which are designed to target the place in you where your pain’s living. Together, we can work toward releasing held-in tension, unprocessed traumas, or old wounds—while supporting pain-specific coping skills—to reclaim your embodied presence. Whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, or relational, pain is a signal asking for us to listen.
Befriend Your Inner World
Negative experiences, beliefs, emotions, and painful sensations can keep you stuck in the past. And it’s not always something you can think your way out of, no matter how hard you try. While healing usually isn’t a predictable straight line, we can show your nervous system new ways it can hear, sense, experience, and respond as you reengage with your purpose.
Specialized Experiential Approaches Tailored to Your Nervous System
-
IFS helps individuals understand and relate compassionately to the different “parts” of themselves that may carry pain, fear, self-criticism, protection, or past wounds. Rather than fighting against these experiences, IFS supports greater inner connection, healing, and nervous system regulation.
-
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) are approaches that may help individuals better understand the relationship between the brain, nervous system, emotions, stress, and chronic pain symptoms. These approaches can support greater safety, flexibility, and reduced fear within the nervous system.
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based trauma therapy that can help the brain and nervous system process distressing experiences that may continue to affect emotional and physical wellbeing long after they occur.
Brainspotting is a focused therapeutic approach that uses eye position and mindful awareness to access and process deeply held emotional and physiological experiences. It can support trauma healing, nervous system regulation, and emotional processing beyond words alone.
-
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps couples strengthen emotional connection, improve communication, and move out of painful relational patterns by fostering greater safety, responsiveness, and understanding within the relationship.
